Why it matters: life happens. One Silent night shouldn't drag in a watchman if you can still own it.

The Ends-on date is your finish line — it shows on the path so you and your watchman both see it coming. When it lands, you close the path out yourself.

Why it matters: a fast without a visible end drifts. A dated path ends as a vow kept.
